The Snow felt…

Soft, Gentle, Light, Feathery
Watery
Cold
Freezing
Icy
Slippery, Slidy
Crumbly
Hard, crunchy, sharp

How the snow made us feel….

Cold and freezing
Ticklish
Scared because it might fill the whole city.
Shivery
Wet
I felt like I would melt
Nervous because I got some in my eyes.
Amazed because I had never seen snow before.
It made me feel icy and freezing.
Happy
Excited
Surprised

How the snow tasted…

Yummy
Watery
Like Sugary water
Cold and Freezing
Like Ice Cream & Ice Blocks
Icy
Like frozen raspberry
Like Frozen water

Dear Fun Fifteen,

I hope you have all had a wonderful weekend.
Please pack your mittens, hats and warm coats for school.  It is going to be FREEZING!
Fingers crossed that we get some snow.  (I will let you into a little secret – We might make some snow flakes and do some winter art to celebrate the cold weather).
See you soon
Mrs Wheeler!

Japanese Week

Japan – We learnt:
Grace learnt that years ago there was a bomb in Japan.
Brooke learnt that there was a Japanese girl called Sadako.
Lulu learnt that Sadako tried to make 1000 paper cranes to make a wish come true.
David learnt that wishes should be about helping the world.
Mason learnt that Sadako died. We made 1000 paper cranes as a big wish to keep kids safe.
Chance learnt that the paper crane is a symbol of peace and hope.
Lulu learnt that peace means happiness.
Mckenzie learnt that peace means kindness.
Lauren learnt that a paper crane is the Japan airforce symbol.
Ellie learnt there was an earthquake and a big wave. Lots of Japanese were hurt. We sent our gold coin donations to Japan to help them.

What we wonder about Japan…

This Friday we are having a very special day to acknowledge Japan.  We will be trying to make 1000 paper craines as a sign of peace and hope.

These are our ‘I Wonder’ questions we have about Japan and the Japanese people:

Charlotte wonders why Japan is on the other side of the world?

Katarina wonders why they only eat certain foods in Japan?

Ellie wonders if people in Japan live near the sea?

Lauren wonders why people in Japan eat rice with chop sticks?

David wonders why they use stilts to walk on?

Maha wonders how they make sushi?

Lulu wonders why Japanese people have light brown skin?

Paige wonders why they eat sushi in Japan?

Sky wonders why Japanese peoples eyes are different to hers?

Brooke wonders why they speak Japanese?

Lachie wonders what the city in Japan looks like?

Thomas wonders how they learn to do origami?

Chance wonders where chopsticks came from?

Grace wonders what Japanese people do most days?

Tyler wonders what Japanese houses look like?

McKenzie wonders what the schools look like?

Charlotte wonders what things they have in Japan that we also have in NZ?

Charlotte wonders if we have anything in NZ that they do not have in

Japan?

Lulu wonders if they like NZ food in Japan?

Sky wonders how chop sticks get made?

Mason wonders what animals live in Japan?

On Mothers Day it was my Dad’s Birthday.  He got a card that could talk.  My Dad’s voice came out of it.  We had chocolate muffins for his birthday – Yum yum!

My Brothers Birthday

On the 24th of May it is going to be my brothers birthday.  He is going to be twelve.  My brother likes banana cake, so he might have a banana cake.  That is good because I like banana cake too.  I do not know what I am going to get him as a present.  I know what I might get him, a top gear movie because he loves top gear.  I am not going to buy a card for him, I am going to make a card for him.

“In Japan and Tokyo there was a tsunami and some people were trying to get away from it.  It was scary for them.  I felt sorry for them and they felt sea sick.  Some people saw the plaster come off the wall.  A lady said she threw her high heels out of the second story”.  Written by Wonderful Writer Charlotte
